Bundaberg Discount Drug Store is one of the local pharmacies joining the growing number of health providers around Australia offering the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccination.
Owners and pharmacists Patrick and Tanya Bowden said they were glad to be playing their role in the fight against COVID-19 by offering their patients and customers a safe and convenient vaccination option.
“We have four vaccinating pharmacists who are all experienced in administering vaccines and have completed the Australian Government’s COVID-19 vaccination training. So far we’ve vaccinated about 100 people against COVID-19,” Ms Bowden said.
“We offer a private and dedicated room for vaccinations and our patients are welcome to come and have a chat with us to find out more about the AstraZeneca vaccine.”
Community pharmacists are one of the most frequently visited healthcare destinations and are an important part of the vaccine rollout in Australia.
With such a high demand for the COVID-19 vaccine across the country, and not all general practitioners able to offer the vaccine, Mrs Bowden said the award-winning pharmacy was excited to be offering the vital service.
“The vaccine can help prevent serious illness or death from COVID-19 and we’re wanting to ensure that all members of the community have the opportunity to protect themselves and their loved ones,” Mrs Bowden said.

Customers can book online or instore and walk-in vaccinations may also be accepted – depending on staff availability.
