St John’s Lutheran Primary School will help early learners familiarise themselves with the school environment at its Ready, Set, Prep event on Saturday, March 27.
The Ready, Set, Prep day is designed to welcome families to the school and provide early learners with their first step towards successfully transitioning into prep year schooling.
St John’s Principal Chris Mallett said Ready, Set, Prep enabled children to explore, play, meet new friends and gain a ‘taster’ for what school would be like without having to navigate the hustle and bustle of a typical school day.
“School is a big step on the journey towards growing up and most children look forward to it,” Chris said.
“They are keen to make new friends, learn new things and feel like a ‘big kid’.
“At the same time, starting school can be stressful for children and parents and our Ready, Set, Prep program aims to prepare children for the exciting changes ahead.”
He said the program was a fun and hands-on way to develop children’s knowledge, processes, skills, and attitudes with a focus on beginning their journey into prep schooling.
Chris said building positive relationships was central to St John’s operations and that the school prided itself on being ‘one big family where everyone is someone’.
Early learning specialist teachers will be present on the day to answer questions from parents and showcase what prep school is about.
The Ready, Set, Prep day will be conducted from 9am-11am on March 27 at St John’s Lutheran Primary School, via the George Street entrance.
Registrations are essential and can be made by emailing St John’s Lutheran Primary School at school@stjohnsbundaberg.qld.edu.au or by phoning 4132 6888. RSVPs must be received by Wednesday, March 24.
