Bundaberg Brewed Drinks has been recognised on the world stage and awarded a platinum medal at the SIP (Spirit International Prestige) Awards for its ginger beer.
Bundaberg Brewed Drinks chief executive John McLean said it’s an honour to win an award which has global prestige.
“The best part about these awards is that they’re judged by a panel of everyday consumers,” he said.
“And when you’re formally recognised as their favourite ginger beer, it’s a testament to the small team working hard behind the scenes making our brews taste so good.”
The SIP Awards are based in California, and each year 146 consumers are invited to taste and judge spirits and mixers from around the world.
They are the only internationally recognised consumer judging spirits competition.
“Catering to the opinions and palates of the discerning public, the SIP Awards presents a unique, spirit judging competition, unaffected by industry bias,” the website says.
“This pragmatic and refreshing model of evaluation provides an honest stage for feedback and recognition where top brands showcase their achievements.”
Although the awards mainly focus on spirits, they also include a ginger beer/ginger ale category as these beverages are viewed as mixers.
Bundaberg Brewed Drinks was awarded the highest honour in the ginger beer/ginger ale category, receiving the platinum medal.
Beverages that received a platinum medal represent a distinguished class that earned exceptional marks from consumer judges. Platinum medal recipients are highly recommended to the public.
Highest honour in SIP ginger beer category
“We are the number one ginger beer in Australia and New Zealand and the brand is now in over 60 countries,” John said.
“Formal recognition such as the SIP Awards allows Bundaberg Brewed Drinks to gain credibility in countries where we are less known.”
The award has helped position Bundaberg Brewed Drinks Ginger Beer as a premium product with a superior taste, as both a beverage and mixer.
There were more than 900 brands entered in the awards across various categories, with the judging process being very stringent.
