One Little Farm has expanded into coffee brewing, with owners Anthony and Kate Rehbein excited to offer more of a one-stop shop.
The boutique store nestled in Millaquin Markets at Bundaberg East has been operating as One Little Farm for more than a year after the couple merged their successful farming and food manufacturing businesses, Hummock Produce and BundaGinga, and it continues to grow.
โWith our floristry, gourmet produce and now coffee, itโs like the whole love of the shop percolates away with a romantic feel,โ Anthony said.
โItโs definitely another stepping stone for us as farmers and local producers to showcase the local produce in another way.
โWith our baked goods we will be targeting dairy free and gluten free; thatโs a point of difference for us.
โI am a coeliac, and my daughter is dairy free, so it fits our family and what we are trying to achieve.
โIt all comes from the farm, and thatโs what we are trying to build.โ
Anthony said by adding the grab-and-go style coffee and baked goods to the established flower and gourmet produce business would enable busy customers to call in on their way to work or school for a quick break.
โThe growth area for our shop is that we are for both men and women,โ he said.
โWe want to showcase the farmer. The farmer is the hero of our shop, and we now have over 30 producers that we supply seasonally in the shop.
โWe have a direct relationship with the farmer, we know whatโs in season โ because we are farmers too.
โFor example, our tomatoes will be combined with Giles Herbs to create beautiful slices that can be picked up during a quick break at work.โ
Brewing coffee at One Little Farm
One Little Farmโs new barista Liz Dern has stepped away from creating gelato to pursue her desire to provide rich and luxurious brewed coffee to the community.
Liz said the funky Catโs Pyjamas coffee was a blend of Seven Miles, and it was roasted just enough to bring out the sweetness and velvety smoothness of the coffee.
โI am just loving it, I wanted a change and as the word spreads more people are knowing about it and itโs gaining momentum,โ she said.
โKate and Anthony are so passionate about they do; thatโs one of the reasons why I decided to make the change.
โItโs very different from gelato, but Iโm so glad to be on board to help the business grow even more.
โWe are now getting the customers who are coming in and becoming regulars, and we havenโt even been operating for a week yet.โ
