The new weekly Paradise Markets at Bargara has proven very popular with a mixed variety of goods for sale every Sunday.
Paradise Market organiser Charmaine Martin said initially they had set up to help the small businesses in the area, but were such a success after the first two weeks they’ve now decided to run it weekly.
“We have the small market stalls along with the beautiful Bargara Berries with their fruit, Artisan 4670 with all locally-handmade items, and then we have the Turtle Paradise Café, all in one spot,” she said.
“We started off originally before COVID-19 but then we had to stop, then we returned a fortnight ago and it was just so popular we thought we’d return each week.
“We started off originally trying to get art and crafty, but I didn’t want it classified as just art and craft, as there are so many talented people in the area and we just keep growing.”
Charmaine said along with the mixed variety of locally-made goods for sale, Paradise Market was also a chance for locals to get out and enjoy a little bit of music by local performers.
“Steve from the Bundy Gig Guide has organised a singer each week, so we have plenty of entertainment too,” she said.
“We are hoping it builds each week, and so far so good.”
Sissy Shack stallholder Lorraine Haines owns a small business at Burnett Heads, and she said Paradise Markets was a good opportunity to boost customers with her mini-stall of vibrant coloured handmade bags.
“It’s really a fantastic market,” Lorraine said.
“I think there is a good mix of items for sale, and it’s definitely growing.”
Paradise Markets is located at Hughes Road, Bargara, and are open every Sunday from 8 am to 1 pm.
