Council meeting streamed online

Bundaberg Regional Council meeting: 15 April 2020

Bundaberg Regional Council will livestream future meetings online after a successful trial at the first post-election meeting today.

Mayor Jack Dempsey said today’s meeting was broadcast on YouTube and this will be repeated in future.

“The meeting was conducted in accordance with social distancing guidelines but we understand that people want to avoid travel as much as possible,” Mayor Dempsey said.

“Streaming the meeting also enables more people to see local government in action, which ensures greater transparency.

“Council is fully committed to being accessible and accountable in how we operate.”

Cr Bill Trevor was re-elected Deputy Mayor at today’s meeting.

“I’d like to thank my fellow councillors for showing confidence in me to hold this position,” Cr Trevor said.

Mayor Dempsey was nominated for a position on the Local Government Association of Queensland policy executive.

He was also appointed chair of the Local Disaster Management Group with Cr Greg Barnes as deputy chair.

The first ordinary meeting of Council will be held on Wednesday, 29 April and streamed online.

  1. Afternoon BRC & congrats to all our elected Mayor & councillors, love the fact you are streaming your future meetings live. Can you please advise how we can access & have a message sent to advise us when meetings will be available on YouTube to view.
Once again, we will all get through this, not just the current pandemic but, whatever we have to face in the future, we will face it together.
