The Bundaberg Region will welcome in 2020 with New Year’s Eve community celebrations at Bargara and Gin Gin, and there’s plenty of live entertainment in Bundaberg.

New Year’s Eve Community Festival at Bargara

The celebrations kick off 6pm at Club Bargara with the New Year’s Eve Community Festival spreading out over Christensen Park.

Club Bargara general manager Ian Witt said it was important for the community to come together and celebrate for a few hours to welcome the arrival of 2020.

“The New Year’s Eve Community Festival will have something for everyone,” Ian said.

“There will be face painting, food vans, kids rides, including trackless train rides, and live entertainment.”

Bargara Golf Club’s General Manager Ian Witt is please to be holding the New Year’s Eve event at Bargara.

“We will have fireworks at both 8.30pm and midnight and Calavos Rural Fire Brigade will be their with one of their trucks, while we are raising much needed money to support them.

“We have a bucket set up on the bar now and there will be buckets going around collecting on the night also.”

Ian said although dinner was now fully booked inside Club Bargara there would be plenty of food vans to keep the hunger at bay.

“We will have plenty of tasty street food, from fried chicken, fish and chips, slushies and gourmet ice cream in the vans in Christensen Park,” he said.

“It will just be a nigh of fun and I encourage anyone looking for a cheap night out to enjoy welcoming in 2020 to come along.”

Gin Gin Big Bash returns after inaugural success

The NYE Eve Gin Gin Big Bash will be held for the second year raising money for four sporting organisations in the Gin Gin community.

Co-organisers Petra Galea and Muppi Dean said they were blown away by the response from the community to the inaugural New Year’s Eve last year and decided to make it an annual event.

“It went fantastically well, so it’ll be a continuous annual event,” Petra said.

“We will have gold coin face painting, $5 rides or the option to go unlimited for $30.

“This year there will be lots of free activities with the Gin Gin Library bringing out their giant games targeting the toddlers and five and six year olds.”

There will also be fireworks at both 9pm and midnight to welcome in the new year.

Petra said the NYE Eve Gin Gin Big Bash was the biggest fundraiser for the four sporting organisations that used the football grounds where the celebration will happen.

“It’s our biggest fundraiser of the year,” she said.

“We will have plenty of food, including standard sport canteen food of steak burgers, sausages on bread, and food vans with country spuds, pizzas, crepes, hot doughnuts and ice cream.

“And lots of rides and entertainment, including Spargo Brothers performing again this year.”

Last year was so popular that the organisers decided to run a free courtesy bus from the Gin Gin Showgrounds.

“The event was so well received last year that we ran out of parking, so this year we will have the free courtesy bus running every 15 minutes,” Petra said.

Petra said for continuous updates it was advised to check the events Facebook page.

“It’s great to see so many people supporting live music in Bundaberg as we’ve been getting 45-46 gigs a week all year!
