The first day of spring also marks the start of swimming season in Bundaberg with Norville and Anzac pools reopening on Sunday, 1 September.
Gin Gin swimming pool will follow soon after, reopening on 21 September in time for the school holidays.
Isis Memorial Pool will unlikely reopen before December while the significant upgrade to heat and cover the pool is completed.
Michele Watson, who manages both the Bundaberg pools (Norville and Anzac) on behalf of Council, said the pools were ready to reopen on Sunday.
“We’re looking forward to a really good season,” Michele said.
“Especially with the water play area at Norville being open.
“Anzac will be the same with inflatables at the weekend and school holidays.”
Michele said Anzac pool was ideal for lap swimming and lunchtime swims for workers in town.
“It’s a unique location on the waterfront,” she said.
“It’s one block from the main street of town.”
Michele said some works were still under way at Norville, however this would not impact pool or water play area access.
“All-ability access is being constructed at Norville … the roof is being replaced and solar is being put on the roof.”
Norville will also operate with extended hours this swim season, opening earlier on Sundays and during the warmer months it will open later on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
