The patience of users of Gelsominos Road at South Isis has been rewarded with a section of the road widened through a #BRCbudget19 funding allocation of $60,000.
Roads and Drainage portfolio spokesman Cr Bill Trevor said the section of narrow road was sandwiched between two other sections that had previously been widened.
“The result was that you could be travelling from either direction on this road and then strike this two or three hundred metre narrow section of road.
“It was not ideal and I am pleased Council has been able to fund this widening.
“There is quite a community living out this way and this road attract plenty of traffic,” said Cr Trevor.
Another Childers road widening project will also be underway soon.
“Likewise, widening will be undertaken on John Street at Cordalba during the next school holidays. The widening extends to Warreners Road intersection.”
This will provide better access for children coming to the school and we’ll be adding a couple of extra parks at the school as well.
Cr Trevor said the work will be undertaken at a cost of $90,000.
“Sometimes it is not the huge budget projects that provide satisfaction within the community but rather these targeted jobs that really have a positive impact for locals using these roads.
“From a safety point of view these are good projects at a total budget cost of $150,000,” said Cr Trevor.
