Tickets are on sale tomorrow for TEDx Bundaberg, a global phenomenon shaping up to be one of the region’s most anticipated events.
The all-day, all-inclusive event will be held on Friday, 20 September 2019 and will explore the theme of Empowering Ideas.
Tickets will be available from 9am Tuesday, 23 July from the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre.
Co-organiser and CQUniversity Associate Vice-Chancellor (Wide Bay Burnett), Luke Sinclair, said the event would place a strong focus on ideas that would empower individuals to make positive change within their region.
“This is the first time a TEDx event has been held in Bundaberg and the organising committee is really excited about showcasing talented and inspiring locals as part of the program,” Mr Sinclair said.
“Ultimately, the mission of TEDx worldwide is to spread ideas in local communities, spark conversations and inspire curiosity.
“As such, we have developed a program to do just this.
“Our speaker line-up is very diverse and includes the likes of local business owner and athlete Matt Grills, psychologist Daniel Banos, artist Rachel Sarra, surfing scientist Ruben Meerman and adventure entrepreneur John Sharpe (just to name a few).
“I think attendees will be blown away by the stories and ideas that our speakers will share.”
Speaker says TEDx Bundaberg a game changer
TEDx Bundaberg speaker and local entrepreneur, Morgahna Godwin, said that she felt extremely privileged to have the opportunity to share her story and be inspired by others.
Ms Godwin is the creator of the phone app called Manage Endo.
“The focus of my talk will be on finding your ‘why’ through solving your own problems,” Ms Godwin said.
“I hope that I can empower audience members to look within and recognise how they can change the world, by addressing and solving the problems they know intimately.
“I think this event will be a game changer for Bundaberg because TED talks promise the opportunity to see life through another’s lens, which is both a privilege to offer but also to receive.
“It’s through understanding the experience of others that we broaden our scope for compassion and connection as a community. There is nothing more powerful than that.”
Full program details and information on speakers can be found on the TEDx Bundaberg Facebook page.
Tickets for the TEDx Bundaberg event are $49 including GST for general admission and $29 for students and pensioners. Booking fees are additional. The price also includes morning tea and lunch from event sponsor Alowishus Delicious.
The TEDx event is being organised by a group of representatives from local organisations including CQUniversity, Bundaberg Regional Council, the Bundaberg Business Enterprise Centre, Bundaberg Fruit and Vegetable Growers, Bundaberg Tourism, the Chamber of Commerce, the Generator, Greensill Farming Group and local schools.
