The Queen Street roundabout is getting a facelift as part of Bundaberg Regional Council plans to beautify the region.

Parks and Gardens group supervisor, Greg Hart, said the North Bundaberg roundabout was currently being spruced up and would feature a new look with lush greenery.

“We are currently in the hardscaping phase with our concreters reinstating the roundabout to its original from,” he said.

“There are three components to the redesign of the roundabout: the middle island, the garden bed and the outer apron.

“Coloured feature concrete will also be incorporated along with the construction of a garden bed.”

Mr Hart said many staff had been involved with the project so far.

“This project is in line with Parks and Open Spaces Strategy objectives to incorporate green space in our roadside and community areas,” he said.

“There have been multiple crews working on this site from curbing and demolition crews, traffic control and concreters.

“Once the concreting and hardscaping is complete we can move to the next stage.”

Mr Hart said the next phase of the Queen Street roundabout redesign would take place soon to complete the finishing touches to the landscaping elements.

The project is expected to take three weeks to complete and funding was obtained through the State Government’s Works for Queensland program.
