During the month of May the public will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite finalist team’s innovative idea as part of the Mayor’s Telstra Innovation Awards.

The annual awards event highlights creative uses of technology or the next technological idea — from a new style of digital camera to a revolutionary concept for transport, health, recreation or more.

Students from high schools around the region have formed teams and work on their innovative idea, with mentoring from local businesses, for 10 weeks before final judging commences.

To vote, just drop into your local Telstra store, to view the 10 finalist team’s ideas and cast your vote.

Voters will go in the draw for a new Samsung S10 phone and the team that gains the most votes will also be awarded.

The winners will be announced at the Finalist Pitch Night on Wednesday 26 June 2019.

Teams have just concluded week two of the Mayor’s Telstra Innovation Awards mentoring program with Damien Tracey of Community Lifestyle Support.

Students were taught how to use lean principles in product development to build, measure and learn.

Teams will continue developing their innovative ideas with two mentoring sessions left the CQUniversity and TAFE Bundaberg who along with Ulton, Bundaberg Brewed Drinks, Telstra and Queensland Computers, are giving their time and expertise in encouraging and supporting the finalists.
