The awards leaderboard shows Aqua Girls Takeaway today ranked 18th in Queensland.

The other Bundaberg Region shops in the top 50 are Burnett Heads Seafood and Grill (29), Ferrari’s Fish and Chips (34), Busy Bee Fish Bar (36) and See Street Seafood Take-Aways (39).

Aqua Girls began trading in July 2016 and sources fish from local suppliers like Rum City and Bidfood. The business is also famous for its burgers.

Seafood on the menu includes Snapper, Red Emperor, Parrot Fish, Whiting, Barramundi and Spanish Mackerel.

Proprietor Kell Gear said she was “super excited” to be in the state’s upper echelon.

“To be nominated at all was sensational and very humbling,” she said.

“Now to be rated top 18 in the state and on top in our local town is surreal.

“We take pride in providing a local family-owned business, service, quality and local products.

“Aqua Girls Takeaway provide local employment and sensational friendly service, featuring an extensive gluten-free range.”

Divisional councillor Steve Cooper congratulated Aqua Girls on leading the Bundaberg Region.

“Vote now, let’s get this great business over the line,” Cr Cooper said.

“People I talk to love the quality. Well done and keep up the good work.”

Kell’s husband David has been a firefighter in Bundaberg for many years.
