It’s a much-loved children’s story that many generations have grown up with and now, Possum Magic is set to come to life when it hits our Bundaberg stage.
Bundaberg Regional Council Community and Cultural portfolio spokesperson Cr Judy Peters said the Australian classic will be showcased at the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre in August, thanks to the creative works of Monkey Baa Theatre Company.
“For over 30 years Mem Fox’s Possum Magic has captivated and enchanted young people,” Cr Peters said.
“Thanks to the creative geniuses at Monkey Baa theatre touring company, it will now grace our stage at the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre for all to enjoy.
The brand-new stage adaptation of this magical Australian classic follows the story of Grandma Poss who uses her best bush magic to make little Hush invisible.
But when Hush longs to be able to see herself again, the two possums must make their way across Australia to find the magic food that will make Hush visible once more.
Cr Peters said the stage show was a something the whole family could enjoy together.
“We have already had so much interest,” Cr Peters said.
“The event has been very popular with schools and a third show has just been announced, so get in quick!”
Possum Magic will be at the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre on Thursday 8 August from 10.30am, Friday 9 August from 10.30am and again at 6.30pm.
