From Bundaberg’s iconic rum distillery to discovering Australia’s Scottish roots, next week’s final edition of Drive TV’s The Lap features some of the East Coast’s most loved, quirky, and yet to be discovered local attractions.

The Lap is a once in a lifetime journey around Australia’s legendary 15,000km ‘Big Lap’, travelling in Kia’s Drive Car of the Year, the EV9, to see if Australia is truly ready for electric long distance road travel.

In this journey, Drive.com.au’s Managing Editor Trent Nikolic and adventurer pal Dom Wiseman, explore the rich stories and picturesque scenery from the rugged cliffs of the Great Australian Bight and near-infinite expanses of the Nullarbor Plain to the wild outback of the Northern Territory.

Next week’s episode will see Trent and Dom’s journey commence from sunny Bundaberg before the final stretch home to Sydney, visiting one of Queensland's best-known wildlife conservation landmarks, Australia Zoo, travelling down through the picturesque Nambucca Heads, before heading home across the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Major highlights of the episode include discovering how Gympie saved Queensland, learning more about how an Australian company is changing the 4WD accessory game and spending a night in Kempsey to see one of Australia’s greatest country music stars, Slim Dusty.

All these exciting encounters and more unfold in next week's episode of The Lap, as the team completes the final stretch.

Drive TV Executive Producer Terry King said Australia’s regional towns were unlike anywhere in the world.

“We wanted to show this to our Drive TV viewers,” he said.

“Trent and Dom set out to film a 33-day special and what we got back was unique footage showing the incredible people that make up our nation and the picturesque scenery that we are so lucky to call home.

“2024 is a big year for Drive TV and we are proud to be bringing places such as Bundaberg to living rooms all around the country.

“And better yet, we showed that no matter the car you drive – EV or not – you can get there with four wheels and preparation.”

The next episode of Drive TV’s The Lap will air at 3.30 pm Saturday 29 June on Nine and will showcase Bundaberg, Gympie, Beerwah, Brendale, Maclean, Nambucca Heads, South West Rocks, Kempsey and Sydney.

The Lap series will run for eight weeks on Nine, Nine Rush and is available to stream on Nine Now.
