Bundaberg’s own Jayden Grogan’s amazing talents will shine under the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre’s spotlight, for the contemporary dance one man show, Jaz & The Big Red Dance Book.

This unique performance showcases Jayden’s extraordinary array of creative talents and stellar performance prowess.

Director Jacqui Carroll’s choreography masterfully integrates a series of dynamic dance solos through epic challenges revealed from within the Big Red Dance Book.

These are inspired by well-known classical tunes from Beethoven, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Ravel, Vivaldi, Offenbach, and many more.

With cleverly designed and stylish costumes, this hour-long solo creates a multi-dimensionally exhilarating performance of various styles, and forms.

The world premiere of Jaz & The Big Red Dance Book received standing ovations at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre in 2021.

Jayden Grogan

Jayden is a professional dancer-choreographer, performing artist, teacher, and creative practice researcher.

He has performed professionally throughout Australia and internationally in critically acclaimed productions.

Having grown up in Bundaberg for seventeen years, Jayden learnt dancing at Dianne McLellan Dancing Academy during his childhood.

Jayden said he was extremely grateful for the whole range of experiences the region offered him.

“My mum, Donna Grogan was my main teacher and my siblings all danced competitively,” Jayden said.

“I regularly competed at the Bundaberg eisteddfods, national dance events, performed in concerts, musicals, Shalom College Dance Programmes, and Drama Queens The Studio before studying dance performance at a Master’s level at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Brisbane.

“From playing competitive sport to leading as a School Captain in primary and high school, I developed the necessary confidence and skills to follow my dreams of making a career performing in and creating groundbreaking productions around the world.

“My hometown has produced many notable dancers and performing arts professionals throughout its history.

“I feel immensely proud and privileged to be a part of this lineage.

“I understand the massive love that the Bundaberg community has for dance and inspirational stories.

“I am thrilled to be able to present this show on the Moncrieff Theatre stage where I grew up performing at Bundaberg Eisteddfods and return to share my love of dance performing in front of friends, family, and the wider community.”
